Singing is part of all sacred ritual in religious traditions, as is music and sound, such as the ringing of bells, beating drums, the sounding of trumpets, choirs, etc. Using the voice in sacred liturgy is proper. In fact, the most holy name, pronounced only by the High Priest once a year within the Holy of Holies (Yahweh) was actually sung, just as is a mantra. The name itself is actually onomatopoeia, using the human voice to duplicate a sound once heard from the heavens (eeeeaaaaooooowwwwwayyyy), which can be easily duplicated using modern audio equipment and the same electronic oscillations as those that created the original interplanetary oscillations that became audible and were heard to come from Earth's ancient skies. It is the fabled "music of the spheres."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05892013499410269737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155367343849395740.post-80880214317833840532009-05-01T10:36:00.000-07:002009-05-01T10:36:00.000-07:00This post is a vast conspiracy to attack perfectly...This post is a vast conspiracy to attack perfectly innocent pigs and a cute child. On the other hand, it is quite possibly also an allusion to the Day of Atonement ritual in which the High Priest shed his robes, was purified, and donned new robes in order to enter into the Holy of Holies"<BR/><BR/>Can't it be both? The diminutive central figure would then be Horus. The fact that he is seated on a lotus blossom further supports that idea. Clearly, the Ark of the Covenant borrowed its iconography from the Egyptian tradition. We see the same thing in the celestial room of the Salt Lake Temple where Aphrodite (the goddess on a scalloped shell) is flanked by two cherubic figures, which take the place of the Egyptian godesses in later iconography. The question is this: Why did Solomon and Brigham Young choose to include similar pagan images that draw on similar ancient traditions in temples dedicated to the God of Israel? Within the answer to that question lies a marvelous discovery for Latter-day Saints about the rest of our modern temple symbolism and ritual.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05892013499410269737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155367343849395740.post-61960101575656471722009-03-04T23:12:00.000-08:002009-03-04T23:12:00.000-08:00Not for this particular shrine.
